This looks like some wicked awesome news.  This from ShockTillYouDrop:

Zoey, Francis, Bill, and Louis of Valve’s Left 4 Dead are going to cross paths with the new survivors of Left 4 Dead 2 – Coach, Ellis, Nick and Rochelle – in an upcoming DLC add-on arriving this spring for the Xbox and PC.

“The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign,” says Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve. “It will also be a huge offering of new gameplay content, with something new for every game mode plus a new uncommon common and weaponry.”

Expect a new “uncommon common” zombie, too! Can’t wait to see how the survivors interact.

  1. We’ll see what pans out. Valve usually delivers on their promises, but if they had this much content already, why not put it in the game upon initial release. I know valve will do a good job, and I’m definitely not trying to diminish their standing as a quality software developer. But! I think people would have been willing to wait another month or two to have that extra level and the new features integrated into their initial purchase. After all, there was that whole debacle over whether THIS GAME ITSELF should have been released as a full title, and not as DLC. (For the record, I think most everything gameplay wise could have probably been implemented. The better graphics and effects maybe not so much.) That being said, I think a little bit more time between titles and more of a focus on your recent development is not out of the question.

Is this just another grab for money while they perceive the franchise to be “hot”? We’ll just have to see how it all stacks up in the end I suppose.
