WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY FANGORIA?

Those of you in the Horror Community are probably aware of the varying issues going on right now with Fangoria.  A major shift in content and power has, it would seem, found its way to those bloody shores.  For those not so aware, I’ll give a brief overview.

First off, take a gander at FANGORIA’S OFFICIAL SITE.  Look a little different?  The thing’s been gutted through and through.  When you get there, you’ll be taken to a blog trying to explain things.  What you’ll come to realize, however, is that Fangoria.com, even with recent efforts, has not been too terribly functional, rarely giving the horror-loving audiences what they want, what they CRAAAAAAAAAVE.  Of course, this has been great for sites like Shock Till You Drop, Bloody-Disgusting, BackwoodsHorror (heh, shameless plug).  Fangoria, supposedly THE horror rag (though I’m a Rue Morgue man meself), just couldn’t keep up with the demand online.  Why?  Well, JAMES ZAHN (former FANGOR contributor) can fill you in on those shenanigans on his Facebook blog right here: WTF IS UP WITH FANGO?

Other than the website being an overall piece of shit, its dirt nap (until it’s potential resurrection) may very well have something to do with the shift of EDITOR IN CHIEF power within.  That’s right, the mad reign of Timpone has come to an end, and in his place, former RUE f’n MORGUE scribe Chris Alexander is taking the reins.  This can only be a good thing in my eyes.  Fangoria’s glory days have long since passed, and I believe that is due, in part, to the masturbatory nature the mag has taken to EVERYTHING that has come out.  Nothing in horror can do no wrong, it’d seem, ESPECIALLY (ka-ching, ka-ching) the big budget flicks.  One could tell this just by the ever increasing amount of cover stories devoted to films that a rabid baboon could tell you sucked balls.

I have great faith in this new direction in that I believe Mr. Alexander could potentially take Fangoria BACK to a place where it was an honest, enjoyable, and informative horror source again.  Fangoria could even, potentially, become a halfway decent rival to the ass-kicking rag RUE MORGUE, and this, my friends, is good news for all of us.  CLICKY CLICKY for another angle on the Chris Alexander story from SHOCK TILL YOU DROP.
