TRUE BLOOD SEASON 4 TRAILER

Wow, it seems to be a day of trailers here at Backwoods Horror. I’m not entirely sure why I’m still following the show after all that fairlyland Sookie’s a fairy from glittery woo woo fairy town bullshit, but True Blood has a way of sucking me in. Might be the Anna Paquin tits. In fact, I’d say that’s more than likely it. For a prime example of what I’m talking about, read on after the break. Oh, NSFW and all that jazz…

“THE VAMPIRE DIARIES” Coming To The CW This Fall

Great.  Fucking wonderful.  Now we’re going to have a televised TWILIGHT.  To make things worse, it’s riding the coattails of a show I actually LIKE (Supernatural) and trying to cash in on the whole True Blood deal (another show I actually like).  Fuck.

It’ll either fail miserably or be a HUGE fucking hit.  Thanks a lot 12 year old girls everywhere for being stupid little vampire drama whores.

A TRUE BLOOD Retraction

In an earlier post, I wasn’t so nice about the first episode of True Blood.  Well, after going back and watching the full (non-rough-cut) version of the first episode, I realize I was a bit harsh.  Anyhow, like I said, after going back and watching the first episode, yeah, you know what, I actually kind of liked it.

Of course, there were still some issues, like the horrid fake-ass southern accents. Being from the South, I can spot it right off. So I’m watching the second episode right now.  I can see myself getting into this show if they keep the mushy romance bullshit to a minimum and develop the stories and characters.  I have to admit that Buffy was a guilty pleasure of mine, and I guess this could be a kind of replacement for the void left after that show went off the air.  I’ve been fillin’ the hole with Supernatural, which, if you haven’t seen it, you had better go right out and buy the first, second and third seasons, that show is fucktastically awesome!  I’ll have to right a post about it.  I think I’ll add True Blood to my list of shows (including House, Lost, Monsterquest and so on)

Anyhow, I’m ramblin’.

Review: True Blood(TV)

Alrighty, A television show about vampires set in the south.  Louisiana to be exact.  When I first heard (vaguely) about the premise of True Blood: Vampires have come “out of the coffin” and have revealed themselves to the rest of the world thanks to the Japanese who’ve invented a synthetic blood that vamps can drink instead of the real thing, thus, you know, allowing them to have friends and lead um, more normal lives, I was, kind of excited. Blah Blah.  Horror in the south, so you know it piqued MY interest.

Turns out there was a rough cut of the pilot “released/leaked” to the intarwebz so, of course, I watched it.  What a disappointment.  Let’s talk about those accents.  They were the most horribly contrived, fake, STUPID accents I’ve ever heard.  I mean, it was almost insulting, being a southerner myself.  The acting seemed completely unnatural.  I mean, it’s a show about vampires, so unnatural fits in there somewhere, but the acting?  The number one rule, aside from fantastic writing (which the show was also lacking), is believable, natural acting.  The audience has to BELIEVE.  You have to put the audience in a place where, once they believe in the characters, you can throw just about anything in there, be it vampires, killer chickens, whatever.

Maybe it was due to the fact that the pilot episode was a rough cut, or that sometimes the first episode of a new series just sucks out loud, but the pilot for TRUE BLOOD just lacked any bite.  Heh, sorry, couldn’t help myself.  For those of you that might be interested, click on the vivacious Anna Paquin below (who stars as Sookie Stackhouse in the series).  The show’s set to air September 7, 2008. Hopefully it’ll get better as it progresses.
