For all you boils ‘n ghouls out there with deaddies, rotting or not, here’s a little something from FearNet featuring Sam, everyone’s favorite spirit of Halloween from TRICK ‘r TREAT (one of my now favorite flicks, one to be watched every year at Halloween). So dig up your pop, (maybe he wants his cake – pat yourself on the back with someone else’s arm if you got that reference) and sit down to watch this little clip in the spirit of the holiday. And don’t forget, just 5 more months till HALLOWEEN!
Below is the short, animated film from Michael Dougherty. It was something of a short first draft for his absolute masterpiece Trick ‘r Treat. Coming soon will be an in-depth review (I’m not entirely certain I did one…but even if I did, you’ll get another one, because it’s THE HALLOWEEN MOVIE!) of Trick ‘r Treat, so stay tuned!
A new trailer for Michael Dougherty’s upcoming anthology of good ‘ol Halloween carnage, TRICK ‘R TREAT has hit the web courtesy of Fangoria. The DVD and BLU-RAY are set for release on October 6th, 2009 after quite a long delay thanks to Warner Bros. (nearly 3 years). Check out the trailer below:
Trick ‘r Treat is set on Halloween night with 4 terrifying tales of the supernatural interwoven throughout. This synopsis from Fango:
A high school principal (DYLAN BAKER) moonlights as a vicious serial killer; the quest of a young virgin (ANNA PAQUIN) for that special someone takes a gruesome turn; a group of teens carries out a cruel prank with disastrous consequences; and a cantankerous old man (BRIAN COX) battles a mischievous trick-or-treating demon.
Ok, so TRICK ‘r TREAT, one of the most anticipated films EVER here at the BackwoodsHorror shack has an official, set-in-stone release date of OCTOBER 6th. I’m crazy fucking excited for this one and I can’t wait to review it! Check out the trailer before and keep checking back with BackwoodsHorror.com as a new trailer will be hitting the intarwebz soon! Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!
GEEZ when are we all going to get to see this movie? AAAAAAAH! Ok, freak-out over. In any case, the teasing continues over at Bloody Disgusting with a shitload of new stills from the flick. Click on the new still below to check out the rest of them.

Just came across this bit ‘o news over at the good folks at Dread Central:
It’s about goddamn time someone tried to get werewolves back on primetime TV. Sure there have been some shows since “Werewolf: The Series” that have made minimal effort, but it sounds like Trick ‘r Treat director Michael Dougherty’s Fox show “Bitches” will be the one we’ve been waiting for.
“It’s about four women living in New York City who are werewolves,” Dougherty told the Fangoria Radio crew the other night, “It’s Sex & The City with werewolves! They seduce people, then they eat them! The series will answer the questions: how do they feed, where do they work… It’s very funny.”
“Bitches” will be kicking into production early next year. Just how much of a mix of humor and horror there will be remains to be seen, but it’s got werewolves so I’m there. Let’s hope it makes it past the pilot, at least!
Man, I’m just going to be straight up with you guys…Trick ‘r Treat looks kickass, but this show is gonna suck donkey dick. First, we’ve got werewolves in the city…no man, that just doesn’t work, werewolves are forest monsters. Second, “Sex And The City meets Werewolves?” Are you shitting me? No offense Dougherty, but what the fuck are you thinking? Vampires in the city, yeah, but werewolves? Nah man, that shit won’t fly. The chicks may dig it though. I’ll check it out when it comes out, but I’m tellin’ ya, it’s gonna be a stinking pile of shit.
Well now, according to they boys over at Shock Till You Drop, TRICK ‘R TREAT IS still with Warner Brothers, though now it’d seem that they’re going to release it directly to DVD. FUCK A DUCK, MAN, DVD? If any flick the dumbass mofos over at WB had their grubby little mitts on DESERVED theatrical release it’d be Trick ‘R Treat. Jeez. Click a link or two above for more info. on the movie. I’m just tired of this back and forth bullshit. Anyway, I suppose I’d should be happy that I’d be getting anything at all. No realease date on the dvd yet, but stay tuned: same bat time, same bat channel, and I’m sure I’ll be passing along that information.
More to come including a retrospective on Joe Bob Briggs, one of the most awesome southern horror personalities around and always a friend to The Backwoods Horror crew.
UPDATE: So it would seem that Shock Till You Drop’s Rep at WB has told them that there was some sort of internal mistake and that Trick ‘r Treat shouldn’t have been on the publicity list sent out to everyone (except Backwoods Horror, we’re not cool enough I guess, fuckers). So…FUCK-A-DUCK. Depressing.
The cool ghouls over at Shock Till You Drop keep giving me good news in regard to Trick ‘r Treat. Last Friday it was reported that the film was still with Warner Brothers, and as of today, the flick has a web domain (even if it does lead to Warner Brothers’ main page and you have to do some searching, still better than nothing), and a brand, spankin’ new poster. Feast your eyes and clicky on the poster to head on over to the WB site.
The boys over at Shock Till You Drop were sent yet another bit of art for the new Pumpkinhead Collector Edition DVD release from their pals at MGM. Check it out:
I have to say I like it better than the previous art.
In other news, contrary to what I reported HERE, it seems that Trick ‘r Treat is still at Warner Brothers with no actual news as to when we’ll get to see the fuckin’ thing. Just fuckin’ release it already WB!
And on a more personal note, I’m actually getting a horror convention right here in my little neck of the woods. To that, I have to say, HOLY SHIT! The only big name thus far is Ken Kirzinger, but hell, maybe we’ll get a few more. With any luck, attendance will be fucking killer and this will happen every year from now on. It’s fucking Christmas!
FUCKING YES!
