Sunday, March 31st sees the season 3 finalé of THE WALKING DEAD, and I for one can’t wait to see how things are going to turn out when all out war breaks out between the prison survivors and Woodbury’s army lead by the obviously insane “Governor.” The final episode is titled WELCOME TO THE TOMBS and has been described as: “Rick and the group having to seriously consider if the prison is worth defending as the Governor’s impending attack looms over their heads.” So keep your bloody eyes peeled this coming Sunday at 9pm Eastern for all the bloody carnage and mayhem.
Now that the mid-season episode of THE WALKING DEAD has come and gone, we’re all waiting with baited breath for the second half of the season starting February 2013. Thankfully, AMC has decided to help feed our addiction with a preview of the second half of season 3 and a few sneak peeks at episode 9: The Suicide King.
SEASON 3 SYNOPSIS:
Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his fellow survivors continue to seek refuge in a desolate and post-apocalyptic world and soon discover that there are greater forces to fear than just the walking dead. The struggle to survive has never been so perilous. Season 3 also introduces new characters, including the Governor (David Morrissey) and fan-favorite Michonne (Danai Gurira), along with her zombie pets.
The second episode of the third season of THE WALKING DEAD had to be one of the best of any season yet; chock full of walker mayhem, violence, and tension, I’d call it a perfect episode. Now we here at Backwoods Horror have a little treat for you…a preview from THE WALKING DEAD season 3, episode 3 “Walk With Me,” airing Sunday, October 28th. Check it out below!
In a world overrun by zombies, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his band of survivors must not only fight the dead, but also face a whole new fear: the living. While Rick and the gang are busy clearing out a prison in the hopes of transforming it into a protective fortress, not so far away is the town of Woodbury, Georgia, and its self-appointed leader/dictator, the Governor (David Morrissey). THE WALKING DEAD stars Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Chandler Riggs, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Iron E Singleton, Melissa McBride, David Morrissey and Danai Gurira. The series is executive produced by Glen Mazzara, Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert with Greg Nicotero as co-executive producer.

THE WALKING DEAD: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON is the much anticipated next chapter to the acclaimed post zombie apocalypse series. When we last left the “The Walking Dead,” the characters were in the midst of a high-intensity struggle to survive, fleeing the CDC as it burst into flames. In Season 2 they are still fighting zombies, and each other, facing more threats and obstacles than ever before.
Based on the hugely successful and popular comic books written by Robert Kirkman, AMC’s “The Walking Dead” captures the ongoing human drama after a zombie apocalypse. The series follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually), who are traveling in search of a safe and secure home. However, instead of the zombies, it’s the living who still remain that may be the biggest threat. Jon Bernthal (Rampart) plays Shane Walsh, Rick’s sheriff’s department partner before the apocalypse, and Sarah Wayne Callies (“Prison Break”), is Rick’s wife, Lori. THE WALKING DEAD: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON cast also includes Laurie Holden (Fantastic Four), Steven Yeun (My Name is Jerry), Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints), Jeffrey DeMunn (The Shawshank Redemption), Chandler Riggs (Get Low), Iron E. Singleton (Seeking Justice) and Melissa McBride (The Mist). Guest stars for the second season include Lauren Cohan (“Chuck”), Scott Wilson (Monster) and Pruitt Taylor Vince (Constantine).
“The Walking Dead” is a hit with both audiences and critics. The first season won the Emmy® Award for Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup for a Series, Miniseries, Movie or Special and was nominated for Emmys® in Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series and Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series. Season 1 also garnered a Golden Globe® nomination for Best Television Series – Drama and was named to the American Film Institute’s (AFI) Top 10 Programs of the Year (2010), among other accolades.

Check out the video below for the cast and crew talking a bit about what to expect in season 3 of AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD while on the set shooting the first episode. From what they have to say, it sounds like we’re going to get a wild ride in the new season which works for me. More zombie violence and mayhem…less soap opera and wondering if Carl is in the house. Fingers crossed!
