TRAILER HITS FOR DEVIL INSIDE DIRECTOR’S NEW WEREWOLF FILM: WER

WER Banner

Arrow In The Head recently got their claws on the trailer for William Brent Bell’s (THE DEVIL INSIDE) upcoming werewolf film WER, and now, boils ‘n ghouls, we’ve got it up here on Backwoods Horror. While I wasn’t really the biggest fan of The Devil Inside, my favorite movie monster (as you all probably know by now) is the werewolf, so any news on a new werewolf film and I can’t help but be drawn to it…even if the trailer screams “stay away” with its overabundance of CGI and the werewolf itself looking more like a hairy hobo than the bi-pedal wolf from hell I hold near and dear to my heart.

Synopsis:

Following the brutal slaying of an American family vacationing in rural France, a peculiar man living near the crime scene is blindly charged with their murders. Believing her client is innocent, expatriate American defense attorney Kate Moore and her team decide to take a scientific approach in order to prove his physical incapability to local authorities.  As she delves into his enigmatic family history, she uncovers evidence that suggests the rebirth of an unexpected legend.  When a bloodbath ensues, Kate must do whatever she can to survive the surrounding terror and prevent the chaos from spreading. A.J. Cook, Simon Quarterman and Brian J. O’Connor star.

FIRST POSTER HITS FOR “DEVIL INSIDE” DIRECTOR’S NEW WEREWOLF FILM “WER”

WER Banner

Source Fangoria:

“The first poster has hit for the new Werewolf film WER, from the director of THE DEVIL INSIDE, [William Brent Bell]. Star A.J. Cook stars as a defense attoney who learns her defendant, accused of murder, is  actually a werewolf. FilmDistrict is releasing, and I’m curious to see, despite its large opening weekend, how naming THE DEVIL INSIDE on the one sheet will play. If you’ll remember, that film’s decision to close with a URL drew much ire from audiences.”

They had me at Werewolf Film. If any long time (or, hell, new) readers know much about my personal taste, I absolutely LOVE werewolf movies, even awful ones. Unfortunately, this poster isn’t telling us much so far, but I’m still looking forward to it. Hopefully the werewolf will actually LOOK like a werewolf instead of just an overly hairy Italian or Greek guy…

TWO NEW PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 TV SPOTS

As the release date for PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 gets closer and closer, the advertising machine has been pumping out clips, posters, and for our purposes today, tv spots; two of which can be found after the break below. I have to admit, after the 3rd PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, I’ve been wondering just where they could possibly go with the franchise. I suppose we’ll all find out soon enough. In the meantime, feast your eyes on the clips below.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 follows the story of Hunter Rey who is now six years old and Katie. They have moved into a house together as mother and son and suddenly the neighbours start  to experience the same hauntings that occured to Katie and Kristi’s family. In the last installment, we learned a bit about how things began, perhaps in this installment, we’ll learn how things will end.

The film is being directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (who directed the third film) for Paramount Pictures based on a script by Zack Estrin (a writer/executive producer on ABC’s “The River”). Returning is Katie Featherston, who played Katie, who has appeared in all the films so far. And there are some rumors out there that Joost’s girlfriend, GLEE‘s Diana Agron, might make a cameo appearance.

3 TERRIFYING CLIPS FROM SINISTER

I was lucky enough to check out a press screening for  SINISTER a few weeks ago (look for a review coming soon), and though I went in with low expectations, I was absolutely astounded at what I bore witness to. From the poster art one would expect a blood bath, and while there was gore here and there throughout, the main focus of the film was an atmosphere of dread and terror the likes of which haven’t been seen for quite some time in horror cinema. This is definitely a must watch for everyone who has felt horror films have traded terror for gore. While you wait for the October 12th release, we have 3 clips after the break that will only further your desire to see this film. Check ’em out!

Starring Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, James Ransone, Juliet Rylance, Clare Foley, Michael Hall D’Addario, SINISTER is a frightening new thriller from the producer of the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY films and Scott Derrickson, the writer-director of THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE. In the film, Ethan Hawke plays a true crime novelist who discovers a box of mysterious, disturbing home movies that plunge his family into a nightmarish experience of supernatural horror.

THREE STILLS FROM PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4

Three stills from PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4, opening nationwide on October 19th, have hit the web. The clips, the teasers, nor the official trailer, have really given much away (remember when trailers didn’t just show you all the good parts so you didn’t even bother going to see the movie?), and the horror world is staying very quiet about this film just as with the other PARANORMAL ACTIVITY films.

VIDEO: CHECK OUT THE SECOND TEASER CLIP FROM PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4

A second new clip from PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4, opening nationwide on October 19th, has hit the web. It doesn’t show much, but it does add to the overall weirdness of the upcoming film. The horror world is staying very quiet about this film just as with the other PARANORMAL ACTIVITY films.

What we do know is the fourth installment picks up where part two left off, as part 3 was a prequel that showed how things began. Perhaps in this installment, we’ll learn how things will end. It’s being directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (who directed the third film) for Paramount Pictures based on a script by Zack Estrin (a writer/executive producer on ABC’s “The River”). Returning is Katie Featherston, who played Katie, who has appeared in all the films so far.
