In October of last year, we first hinted at George Romero’s secretive zombie comic project with Marvel Comics. Since then, we’ve heard nothing on the project. He’s recently finished a new script, but in regard to the comic project he’s remained silent…until now. Talking with DailyDead, he opened up a bit more about the project…
“Max Brooks and I do these panel discussions together and he believes that humans don’t stand a chance. I don’t know… I’m writing a comic book series right now for Marvel. I can’t really say anything about the story, but I’ll just say that the zombies are advancing even a little further.”

So while we were on break, the trailer for the long troubled WORLD WAR Z finally showed it’s horrifying face to the world. I suppose it was to show that the film was on track after almost the entire film had to be re-shot but all it really did was piss off fans of the book and zombie films in general. My biggest grief with it, other than the entire thing looking like the horrible films 2012 or THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW with its overly excessive use of CGI, they had to go and fuck with zombies. ZOMBIES! Zombies, folks, are simple when it comes right down to it and I’m certain they could’ve gotten plenty of extras, but no, they had to use computer generated imagery when it came to the zombies as well. Not only that, they (the zombies) somehow, in death, all have become world class athletes and parkour fanatics. Essentially, boils ‘n ghouls, from the trailer alone (and Brad Pitt’s sorry acting doesn’t help), this film is going to suck out loud, no doubt about it.
Look at this shit, CGI zombie f-ing pyramids! WHAT!?

It’s no secret that the WORLD WAR Z production has been nothing if not troubled. Damon Lindelof was recently hired to rewrite the ending, original director Mark Forster was unable to run things properly, letting things get out of hand, and in October of 2011, Hungarian police raided the set of WORLD WAR Z and confiscated 85 unauthorized weapons for cryin’ out loud.
After Lindelof figured out how much additional work was needed when he was brought in to handle the third act, he handed the project off to collaborator Drew Goddard. Sources say Paramount execs only had 52 minutes of continuous footage cut together to show them, along with a few minutes of other action. The film is said to be gearing up for a seven-week reshoot in London.
So much money is being put into re-shoots and re-writes that I’m certain, if they haven’t scrapped the flick by now, we will be seeing the film eventually, but when? Who knows. We’ll keep you posted on events as they keep developing.
The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.
