NEW CARRIE REMAKE FEATURETTE GIVES A FURTHER GLIMPSE AT THE CARNAGE TO COME

Carrie Banner 2

Opinion seems divided on the upcoming CARRIE remake. I, for one, am excitedly looking forward to it as (sacrilegious as it may seem), I have never been much of a fan of the DePalma version. I never felt a connection with the actors portrayals, even Sissy Spacek who did a good job, certainly, but even as a young outcast myself, I could never connect with her portrayal of Carrie White. I am, however, a fan of director Kimberly Peirce, and actors Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore.

We here at BackwoodsHorror.com have been following news of this remake since its early rumors and now, thanks to the folk over at DreadCentral, we have a mini-featurette with the director and some of the cast commenting upon the film. Check it out below! CARRIE will be hitting theaters October 18th. For more information, check out  WhatHappenedToCarrie.com.

BLOODY CARRIE COMIC-CON BANNER REVEALED

Carrie_Remake_Banner_7_25_12-726x2481

I know, I know, I’m a little late on Comic-Con scoops, but unfortunately I was unable to attend this year and I’m STILL finding so many incredible things I sadly missed out on. One thing I missed out on (but now get to pass on to you boils ‘n ghouls) is a reveal of a banner for the upcoming Sony remake of CARRIE. Remember, folks, the remake, directed by Kimberly Peirce, and starring Chloe Moretz (Kick Ass, Let Me in), Julianne Moore (Hannibal), Alex Russell (Chronicle), Ansel Elgort, Gabriella Wilde (The Three Musketeers), Judy Greer (The Descendants) and Portia Doubleday (Youth In Revolt) was originally slated for a March 13, 2013 theatrical release that has now been pushed back (as apparent by the banner) to October 18th. While I personally HATE waiting, particularly for something with such promise, I think October really is a better time for a horror genre release date!

Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES BEGINS VIRAL MARKETING CAMPAIGN

dawn of the planet of the apes ceasar banner

Though not quite horror, the new breed of PLANET OF THE APES films does possess some horrific sci-fi ideology so I thought I’d include a bit of the new viral marketing campaign that premiered this year after SDCC…

If you recall from 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, the same chemical that enhanced the apes proved to be fatal to humans. The website, SimianFlu.com, explains all the symptoms of the disease as well as an interactive map showing a timeline of its spread. You can check it out by hitting the link above and don’t forget to take a look at their PSA after the break.

Directed by Matt Reeves with a script from Scott Z. Burns, Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa and Mark Bomback, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes continues the story that began in 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes and features a cast that includes Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo, Jocko Sims, and Judy Greer.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will open on July 18, 2014.
