I’ve been a huge fan of Dante Tomaselli’s work since first viewing his films HORROR and SATAN’S PLAYGROUND. His films take on this incredibly horrific nightmarish quality I have yet to see equaled. Based on what I’ve seen so far, I am excitedly looking forward to his upcoming film TORTURE CHAMBER. And now we’ve finally received a release date for his next nightmarish vision of horror. Directed by Dante Tomaselli, TORTURE CHAMBER, is set to be released to DVD on DVD this January 28th via Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment, and stars Vincent Pastore, Christie Sanford, and Lynn Lowry among others. In another bit of news, what looks like the potential DVD box art has hit as well (though this is not confirmed). Check it out after the break!
13-year-old Jimmy Morgan is possessed by an evil too powerful to be exorcised by any religion. After escaping from a mental institution, Jimmy is back with a vengeance – and an army of children who follow his every murderous desire. The town trembles in fear as the youths attack and abduct its residents – innocent and guilty alike – dragging their victims to an abandoned castle and subjecting them to grisly torments deep within its underground tunnels.

From The Press Release:
[SKINWALKER RANCH] is inspired by true-events and reports around “Skinwalker Ranch” (http://skinwalkerranch.org/) in NE Utah, which started gaining media attention a few years ago (including Jesse Ventura’s ‘Conspiracy Theory’ and most recently ‘Joe Rogan Questions Everything’ on SyFy) after years’ worth of reports of a wide range of unexplained phenomena. The film touches on these reports ranging from mysterious orbs and alleged UFO sightings to giant wolf-like creatures and livestock mutilation.
It is a found footage movie that starts with the disappearance of ranch owner Hoyt Miller’s eight year old son, Cody on November 11, 2010. Modern Defense Enterprises (MDE) sent a team of experts to document and investigate the mysterious occurrences, which only escalate upon their arrival… The incidents become more violent, causing tensions to rise as the team must decide how far they will go to unlock the mysteries of “Skinwalker Ranch.” The group debates whether the answers are worth risking their lives for, or if they should just call off the investigation and leave the ranch – that is, if leaving is actually an option…

I’ve said it time and time again, if it’s got the big ‘ol hairy guy (bigfoot, sasquatch, swamp ape, wildman, ohio grass man, or whatever you wish to call it), we here at Backwoods Horror are IN LIKE FLYNN (I’m going to have to look up where that saying comes from. I say it all the time and have no clue what it means, but I digress…)! I’m already a bit skeptical about FEED THE GODS, however, as it promises to be a horror-comedy “in the vein of Shaun Of The Dead, An American Werewolf In London, & Cabin In The Woods.” Ok, first, I don’t really consider Cabin In The Woods or An American Werewolf In London comedies, per se, but horror films with comedic elements. Shaun Of The Dead, however, is definitely a comedy with horror elements, so they nailed that one. The problem with horror-comedies, however, is that many try, and most fail when it comes time to properly balance the two genres in one film. Still, it’s friggin’ Bigfoot…you KNOW I’m going to watch it.
FEED THE GODS is about WILL GUSTAFSON, a determined yet hopelessly inept filmmaker, and his quest to find Bigfoot in a town that’s all too hungry for tourists. Raised in a foster home, Will and his adopted brother, KRIS, inherit a box of videotapes showcasing Kris’ long lost mother and father… as well as a suspicious town fixated on a Bigfoot-like creature. Will agrees to help Kris search for his parents while secretly hunting the elusive beast. Soon the town’s insidious past emerges and the boys find exactly what they’re looking for…
