OCTOBER HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!

It’s that time of year again boils ‘n ghouls.  That time of year when the air becomes cool and crisp.  When dusk brings a brilliant orange hue and long, mysterious shadows.  That time of year when the smell of woodsmoke drifts upon the brisk night wind.  When the leaves carpet the ground with brilliant shades of red, orange, yellow, and brown.  It is that time of year when a Jack ‘o Lantern, so carefully carved, sits glowing upon the steps of homes everywhere.  When children stalk the night to trick or treat.  It is a time of monsters, of werewolves, vampires, witches and ghosts.  It is time…for Halloween!

If you’re reading this, then there’s a good chance that, like me, you’ve waited all year for this as the entire month of October is Halloween for me (hell, I could say it’s Halloween all year round here at BackwoodsHorror). And the day itself?  I’m not yet certain what I’ll be doing, but I’m for DAMN sure it’s going to be memorable (IF I can remember it…heh…).  So dust off your costumes, or make or buy new ones, because it’s time to get out there and celebrate the time of year when Horror in every form imaginable is brought to the forefront of every heart and mind.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

‘THE APPARITION’ MANIFESTS HORRIFYING NEW TRAILER AND POSTER

Warner Bros. has released a new trailer and poster for their upcoming supernatural horror movie THE APPARITION. Directed and written by Todd Lincoln, the PG-13 film, vaguely reminiscent of Asian Horror films such as PULSE, is set for a release date of August 31st and stars Ashley Greene, Sebastian Stan, Luke Pasqualino, Julianna Guill, and Tom Felton. While I’m not normally a fan of PG-13 horror as it generally tends to be watered down in order to bring in a larger (younger) audience, the trailer does convey a particular sense of terror and dread.

SYNOPSIS:

When frightening events start to occur in their home, young couple Kelly (Ashley Greene) and Ben (Sebastian Stan) discover they are being haunted by a presence that was accidentally conjured during a university parapsychology experiment. The horrifying apparition feeds on their fear and torments them no matter where they try to run. Their last hope is an expert in the supernatural, Patrick (Tom Felton), but even with his help they may already be too late to save themselves from this terrifyingly malevolent force…

‘GHOSTFACERS’ THE ‘SUPERNATURAL’ SPINOFF TO HIT THE WEB!

Posted on 1st February 2010 by aaron in News - Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Ok, boils ‘n ghouls, in case you weren’t aware, I’m a huge fan of the show SUPERNATURAL.  Granted, I think things have become a little bogged down since the continuing “Angels, Demons, Satan on earth” storyline hit, but the first season and all the monster-of-the-week episodes kick ass.  In case you haven’t been following the show, the premise follows two brothers traveling around the country in their vintage impala and kicking monster ass.  Perhaps one of the best shows on television right now.  Anyhoo, there have been 3 episodes in the series so far featuring the GHOSTFACERS (the first in Season 1 before they were actually called GhostFacers, then just two guys behind the paranormal website Hellhound’s Lair).  Basically, if you think of that show Ghost Hunters with a group of bungling 20-somethings, but much more enjoyable, you’ve got the gist.  They’re always comedic episodes and always, always entertain.

Well, apparently, they’re going to get their own little web series.  This is something I’ll be sure to watch (and post, if embeddable).  Here’s the scoop from the creeps over at Shock Till You Drop:

McG’s Wonderland shingle and Warner Bros. TV are plotting an Internet spinoff to the CW’s Supernatural titled Ghostfacers according to Variety.

Wonderland has already begun production on the project, which will initially run as 10 three-minute episodes, which follows a team of ghost hunters who tape their exploits in documentary fashion.

The somewhat comedic group first appeared on the first season of Supernatural (and were created for the show by Trey Callaway for the episode “Hell House”) and also returned in season three, in the episode “Ghostfacers,” by Ben Edlund.

Ghostfacers stars A.J. Buckley (“CSI: NY”), Travis Wester (“Bones”), Brittany Ishibashi (“Supernatural”) and Austin Basis (“Life Unexpected”). The first episode will follow the Ghostfacers as they investigate a theater believed to be haunted by the ghost of a young starlet (played by “Nip/Tuck” alum Kelly Carlson).

Supernatural has sprung forth beyond the TV show,” said Wonderland TV topper Peter Johnson.. “The mother series seems flexible enough to allow our creative talent to pursue some of these other arenas.”

Beyond the webisodes, TheWB.com and CWTV.com will also include other Ghostfacers content, such as gag reels, behind-the-scenes videos, photo galleries and actor confessionals. More mythology will also be uploaded to a dedicated Ghostfacers website. Meanwhile Supernatural is currently in it’s fifth season.
