NEW FRIDAY THE 13th REDUX TRAILER HITS THE WEB
What more to I have to say? Check it out below:
Sad to say it, I’m actually looking forward to this one. I mean, all of the subsequent Fridays were practically remakes of the second one, well the third if you want the hockey mask goodness. The problem, I think, is that, though the original fridays had a sort of humor to them, a sort of “good natured fun” aspect, even though, you know, there was violent killings ‘n all, that this one will probably lack. We’ll see.
NEW FRIDAY THE 13th DVD ART
Shock Till You Drop got their claws on the new cover art for the deluxe editions of the first 3 Friday flicks Paramout’s going to be releasing early February 2009 (to cash in on the remake of course). They also reported that a week later, on February 10th, 2009, they’ll be releasing the second season of FRIDAY THE 13th: THE SERIES (not that anyone cares because that show is boring as all hell). Anyway, check out the keen new art:

Pretty cool. I’ll definitely be picking these up, and the fact that 3 will actually be in 3-D is just fucking amazing. BUY ‘EM!
NEW FRIDAY THE 13th POSTER REVEALED
The fiends over at Shock Till You Drop have released the new poster for Platinum Dunes’ upcoming redux of FRIDAY THE 13th. Check it out!

I’m sadly excited for this flick…
NEW FRIDAY 3 DVD IN 3D???
If the new special release of the 3rd Friday flick gets an actual 3-D release that would be fucking sweet! This from the boils ‘n ghouls over at SHOCK TILL YOU DROP:
What does Amazon know that Paramount won’t admit on their home video press site?
If you head to this listing over at Amazon, you’ll find that the upcoming Friday the 13th Part 3 Deluxe Edition DVD will arrive on February 3, 2009 with four pairs of 3-D glasses. Is this legit? Well, to date, Paramount has released few details on the Steve Miner-directed threequel other than that it will include “Trailers: Theatrical Trailer Used on 2000 release.”
But, if Amazon is correct, then a 3-D presentation is certainly a perk. Stay tuned for more updates and package art for Paramount’s re-releases of the first three Friday films.
Sweeeeeeet.

HIS NAME WAS JASON DVD DETAILS!
Picked up this bit of news from FANGORIA:
Anchor Bay Entertainment gave Fango the word that it will release the documentary HIS NAME WAS JASON: 30 YEARS OF FRIDAY THE 13TH on DVD February 3, 2009. The exhaustive saga of Voorhees cinema will then have its broadcast premiere on Starz Friday, Feb. 13.hisnamewasjasondvdnews
Directed by Dan Farrands (screenwriter of THE GIRL NEXT DOOR and HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS) and produced by Anthony (HALLOWEEN: 25 YEARS OF TERROR) Masi and Thommy Hutson, HIS NAME WAS JASON is hosted by Tom Savini (pictured, who created the trendsetting gore FX of the 1980 original FRIDAY and returned to the series for 1984’s THE FINAL CHAPTER. The docu showcases interviews with dozens of contributors to the FRIDAY saga, including actors Betsy Palmer (the original), Adrienne King (the first and second films), Larry Zerner (PART III), Bonnie Hellman, Judie Aronson, Lawrence Monoson and Camilla More (THE FINAL CHAPTER), Shavar Ross and Debbisue Voorhees (PART V), Darcy DeMoss and Vincent Gustaferro (PART VI), Lar Park Lincoln, Elizabeth Kaitan and Diana Barrows (PART VII), Peter Mark Richman and Jensen Daggett (PART VIII), Lisa Ryder (JASON X), Seth Green and Travis Van Winkle (the upcoming remake)-not to mention Jason performers Ari Lehman (original), Warrington Gillette (PART 2), Richard Brooker (PART III), Ted White (FINAL CHAPTER), C.J. Graham (PART VI), and Kane Hodder (Part VII through JASON X).
Also going before the HIS NAME IS JASON cameras are original director Sean S. Cunningham and scripter Victor Miller, directors Joseph Zito (THE FINAL CHAPTER), Danny Steinmann (PART V), Tom McLoughlin (PART VI), John Carl Buechler (PART VII, also FX creator) and Marcus Nispel (FRIDAY 2009), plus JASON GOES TO HELL FX artist Greg Nicotero and franchise composer Harry Manfredini. There are also testimonials on the series by everyone from filmmakers Joe (WRONG TURN 2) Lynch and Adam (HATCHET) Green to Fango’s own Tony Timpone. In addition to the 90-minute documentary, the DVD is slated to include over four hours of bonus features, including additional interview material, behind-the-scenes footage and more. A retail price has not been announced-but this one’ll be a must-have at any cost for Jason fans.
NEW FRIDAY TEASER ONLINE
A teaser for the upcoming Friday the 13th redux was presented on the scream awards last night and, surprise, has already made it to youtube. Check it out before it’s pulled!
FRIDAY THE 13th 1-3 Special Edition DVD’s coming soon?
Picked up this bit ‘o news from the folks over at Shock Till You Drop:
Friday the 13th fans unanimously agree Paramount’s previously released DVD box set was lacking. And this fall, the studio’s home video department is taking efforts to make things right. But how far are they willing to go to do so?
As mentioned here on Shock, a DVD production crew has been gathering interviews for a new Friday collection. Other than that info, details have been slim. We recently speculated that Paramount may have been focusing solely on a Friday the 13th special edition and not so much a re-issue of the franchise.
Various sources tell us the DVD team is on a mission to get bonus content for the first three films.
The reason? Platinum Dunes’ Friday the 13th film. The producers of the new installment have said in the press their take is an amalgam of the first three installments. So, Paramount is cooking up an ideal tie-in DVD release to arrive just in time for February 13, 2009 (when the new film debuts).
What this means for the rest of the films, we’re not certain. More info to come…
Sounds cool and all, but it still seems like a money grab from Paramount. We’ll see… Oh yeah, and Part 3 had better be in fuckin’ 3-D, remastered to third dimension creamy goodness or I’m gonna be pissed! Jason’s gonna be pissed too!

Billy Bob Thornton, Megan Fox, Bigfoot, & Other Horror News
I don’t really have a lot of time to make a post right now, so I’m going to post a little Horror News Roundup…yeehaw.
Ok, although it’s been in the horror news for a few days now, Fangoria just picked up the news that Billy Bob Thornton is rumoured to be the next Freddy Krueger. Seems the rumour was started by the man himself, Robert Englund. Englund was quoted as saying that Thornton would be “an excellent choice.” You might remember Thornton in such fright flicks as Chopper Chicks In Zombie Town and he was a voiceless, redneck in a crowd of rednecks that later fell out of a truck in Hunter’s Blood (at least I THINK that was him).
In other news, Horror Movies.ca reports that the Megan Fox topless/nude scene we’ve all been watering at the mouth about has been cut from the upcoming Jennifer’s Body. I would say that this pretty much takes the movie out of the running of flicks to watch, but the lesbian makeout scene she’s in is still in the movie, so now it’s a “maybe I’ll watch it, but maybe I’ll just wait for the UNRATED DVD to come out that has everything” movie.
Fox News, CNN, and others have been reporting that two ‘ol boys in Georgia have a Bigfoot body! Normally I’d call bullshit on something like this, because even though I believe in the big, hairy guy, there are way too many hoaxes and whenever someone in the past has said they have a body, it’s been, well, bullshit. However, they say they’ve sent DNA off to be tested and are going to hold a press conference for the world to see on Friday, August 15th. They also said that they plan to hand the body over to science for further study. This could be interesting, and if it proves out, HA! to all you assholes that said I was just a crazy fucker.
Looks like my favourite movie monster, the werewolf, may be coming back into vogue. With the Wolfman Remake, another Underworld piece of shit, and the upcoming LOBO: “Lobo follows a man who receives a letter and some photos from his mother’s will, and decides to travel to the Amazon to find out his true roots. What he discovers is a clan of lycanthropes whom he eventually helps in their battle for survival.” (Dread Central) I’m worried that it’ll suck though. Unfortunately, most horror movies, well, no, all werewolf movies made today suck total donkey dong.
Finally, a little eye candy. Shock Till You Drop released the cover art for the release of Friday The 13th: The Series, which some of you may be interested in, even though the show was a complete piece of shit and didn’t have Jason in it. Freddy’s Nightmares was much better. Here ya go:

New Pics From Friday The 13th Remake
I’m sure that all of you out there in HorrorLand have already seen the (ONE) pic of the new Jason Voorhees from the Friday remake. Well, over at Shock Till You Drop, they had posted a few new ones, but the studio had them take the pics down. Well, here at Backwoods Horror, we (by that, I mean, ‘I’) know good and damn well that studios don’t pay any attention to us. So…with the help of Youtube, I give you the newest Friday Remake photos.
So what do I think about ‘em? Not much. The new Jason looks kind of weird. I can’t really explain it, but he doesn’t really capture that menacing feeling so perfectly created by Kane Hodder’s Jason Voorhees. I know, I know, “it’s just a guy in a hockey mask.” Well, fuck you buddy, because to take that concept of “a guy in a mask” and turn that character into a menacing juggernaut of fear, well, that takes a special kind of talent. I just don’t think the new guy, Derek Mears, is going to pull it off. Just another forgettable remake.
UPDATE: Below is a pic of the hood Jason’s gonna be wearing in the new Friday Remake. Shit, they’re gonna have the ‘Tater Sack Jason’ the Deadpit Boys made so famous. This is a toy mockup it’d seem. I can only guess they’re basing it off of the movie. Check it out:
