Platinum Dunes’ Friday the 13th is going to street on DVD and Blu-Ray on June 16th. Here’s a look at the artwork for both editions and the specs!

The Blu-Ray boasts both cuts as the aforementioned featurette and the Blu-Ray exclusives: Terror Trivia Track, Hacking Back/Slashing ForwardThe 7 Best Kills. and

I plan to be checkin’ this out on DVD.  I fell asleep during theater showing (too much drinkin’).  All I remember is Jason being pissed off that some kids were stealin’ his weed.  Sounds like they had it comin’!

FRIDAY THE 13th REDUX REVIEW COMING SOON

Possibly tomorrow I’ll have my thoughts on the new Friday film.  Until then, I’ll leave off with the short “I thought this flick was a huge piece of shit undeserving of, and insulting to, the name.  I actually HATE this movie.”

More tomorrow…

THE GREAT JASON WEIGH-IN

Ok all you loyal Backwoods Horror readers, it’s time to weigh in.  In honor of Friday the 13th itself and the upcoming remake, I’m wondering what everyone’s favorite Jason is from the long series of films.  For me, it has to be none other than Kane Hodder’s first appearance in Friday 7.  It had the best makeup and the best Jason Voorhees of all time.  But I wanna know what YOU, the readers, think.  So leave a comment with your favorite Jason and perhaps your favorite Friday memories.

Keep it bloody!

NEW PICS FROM THE FRIDAY REMAKE SURFACE!

If you head on over to the kickass horror site Shock Till You Drop, you’ll see a bevy of new pics from the upcoming Platinum Dunes Friday The 13th Remake, including (a personal favourite here at Backwoods Horror) a new pic of our friend TATER SACK JASON.  Click on the picture to find more stills from the film.

Keep it tuned into Backwoods Horror for more news on the Friday remake.  I plan to start the podcast back up soon as well, so be sure to check back or subscribe on iTunes for The Backwoods Horrorshow.

NEW FRIDAY THE 13th REDUX TRAILER HITS THE WEB

What more to I have to say? Check it out below:

Sad to say it, I’m actually looking forward to this one. I mean, all of the subsequent Fridays were practically remakes of the second one, well the third if you want the hockey mask goodness. The problem, I think, is that, though the original fridays had a sort of humor to them, a sort of “good natured fun” aspect, even though, you know, there was violent killings ‘n all, that this one will probably lack. We’ll see.

NEW FRIDAY THE 13th POSTER REVEALED

The fiends over at Shock Till You Drop have released the new poster for Platinum Dunes’ upcoming redux of FRIDAY THE 13th.  Check it out!

I’m sadly excited for this flick…

FRIDAY THE 13th 1-3 Special Edition DVD’s coming soon?

Picked up this bit ‘o news from the folks over at Shock Till You Drop:

Friday the 13th fans unanimously agree Paramount’s previously released DVD box set was lacking. And this fall, the studio’s home video department is taking efforts to make things right. But how far are they willing to go to do so?

As mentioned here on Shock, a DVD production crew has been gathering interviews for a new Friday collection. Other than that info, details have been slim. We recently speculated that Paramount may have been focusing solely on a Friday the 13th special edition and not so much a re-issue of the franchise.

Various sources tell us the DVD team is on a mission to get bonus content for the first three films.

The reason? Platinum Dunes’ Friday the 13th film. The producers of the new installment have said in the press their take is an amalgam of the first three installments. So, Paramount is cooking up an ideal tie-in DVD release to arrive just in time for February 13, 2009 (when the new film debuts).

What this means for the rest of the films, we’re not certain. More info to come…

Sounds cool and all, but it still seems like a money grab from Paramount.  We’ll see…  Oh yeah, and Part 3 had better be in fuckin’ 3-D, remastered to third dimension creamy goodness or I’m gonna be pissed!  Jason’s gonna be pissed too!
