Dread Central

I’ve just played the SDCC GODZILLA Teaser Trailer now about 5 or 6 times. It’s fucking BRILLIANT! While not much of the big guy can be seen, plenty of what he has wrought is…and it looks like this time Legendary has done right by the fans. Take a look after the break, but don’t wait too long because this little bit of leaked video is being taken down everywhere.

FINALLY GET A LOOK AT WHAT THE NEW GODZILLA LOOKS LIKE

Godzilla Banner

During a licensing expo in Brazil, someone snapped a sneaky photograph of one of the new posters that, at last, gives us our first glimpse at what Legendary Pictures’s new GODZILLA will look like, staying true to the rumors that they’re sticking very close to the classic design as opposed to a giant iguana. All we’ve had up until this point has been a fuzzy image clouded by haze or dust and a brief glimpse as seen on the Godzilla Experience at SDCC. Get a good look after the jump while you can because there’s probably a good chance that Legendary will be sending me an email asking me (and others) to take the post down.

Little has been released about the film thus far, but we are looking at a project that involves one hell of a cast including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Richard T. Jones, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, David Strathairn, Patrick Sabongui, Yuki Morita, Brian Markinson, Juliette Binoche, Akira Takarada, Victor Rasuk, C.J. Adams, and Ken Watanabe.

FIRST LOOK AT THE NEW GODZILLA’S FACE FROM THE SDCC GODZILLA EXPERIENCE

Ok, so for those of you lucky enough to attend this year’s SDCC (San Diego Comic Con), you may have braved your way through the Godzilla (which I always pronounce GO-JEE-RA!) Encounter Experience. If so, not only were you treated to a city block of mayhem and carnage along with your Godzilla awesome-fix, but reports surfaced of an elevator visitors were rushed into. They were then taken to a room with monitors that looked EXACTLY like windows, with blinds and everything, and treated to a rumbling room and power outages as Godzilla lumbered by some high-rise building. Just when you thought you were safe, suddenly the big atomic beast reared it’s horrific head and stared right at you! There was, for a short time, a leaked spy-cam bit of footage of the entire thing. After watching it, I (less than) tirelessly searched in vein to find it again to show you, my gentle, depraved readers. What I did find, however, was a still image (of negligible quality) showing a first glimpse at the big guy’s face. Check check check it out!

I know, not the best imagery in the world, but it’s one step closer to what I can only imagine will be an amazing film. Granted, it only has to live up to the originals (originals, I might add, that spew atomic fire farts all over the 90’s remake of a giant iguana), but I have a feeling that this is going to be one amazing disaster pic. Legendary Pictures put together an amazing Godzilla Encounter walk-through that gave fans one hell of a tease of what’s to come in Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla, opening May 14th, 2014. Though guides strictly said that this would not be the finished look, I’m fairly certain we’re damn close at this point. I can’t wait.

‘THE WALKING DEAD’ FEATURE FILM IS GO!

BITCHIN’!

THIS from Shock Till You Drop:

“Exciting times.” So says “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman on his Twitter account. Why?

AMC just gave the green light to the television adaptation of “The Walking Dead”! This means Frank Darabont will be moving behind the camera soon to direct the pilot he penned.

Darabont was attached to the property last summer. Genre lover and producer Gale Anne Hurd is overseeing the series with Circle of Confusion.

If all goes according to plan, Darabont may be neck-deep in the undead this spring or summer telling the story of Rick Grimes, a cop who awakens in a hospital one day to find zombies have overrun the world.

In an interview last fall, Kirkman said, “I’ve told Frank flat-out that I do not want him to follow the comic to the detriment of the show. I encourage him to veer off if he has something that will work really well on TV that wouldn’t work in a comic. I don’t want people who enjoy the comic to be watching the TV show and going, ‘Oh, this is leading to that one thing I already know about from the comic.'”

Can’t wait to see what he does…

DARABONT TO BRING LIFE TO ‘THE WALKING DEAD’

Frank Darabont (THE MIST, SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION) will be writing and directing the mini-series version of the Image Comics hit ‘THE WALKING DEAD’ created by Robert Kirkman for AMC.

This from Shock Till You Drop:

AMC and Frank Darabont (The Mist) are inching ever so close to teaming up to adapt the Image Comics graphic novel series “The Walking Dead,” written by Robert Kirkman.

Darabont will write and direct! Incredible. It’s been rumored that the series would go to Showtime  or HBO, however, Darabont could make this work for AMC.

Variety says that Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Motion Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion are also on board to executive produce.

The story is set among a group of zombie survivors of an apocalypse who are led by a police officer, Rick Grimes, in search of a safe place to live.

AMC Senior Vice President of Programming Joel Stillerman said the series will stay faithful to the tone of the original novels. “This is not about zombies popping out of closets. This is a story about survival, and the dynamics of what happens when a group is forced to survive under these circumstances. The world (in ‘Walking Dead’) is portrayed in a smart, sophisticated way.”

I know I’ll sure as hell be looking forward to this one!  It’ll be fuckin’ awesome.  Forget the shitty CGI in THE MIST, Frank Darabont is one of the few directors who could really breathe life into this comic and make it a badass fuckin’ flick!
