DEAD BEFORE DAWN 3D HAS BEEN PICKED UP FOR U.S. DISTRIBUTION!

Fantastic news as April Mullen’s DEAD BEFORE DAWN 3D  has been picked up for US distribution by Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment, though no release date has been announced.

DEAD BEFORE DAWN 3D follows an unwitting group of college kids who accidentally unleash an evil curse that causes people to kill themselves and turn into Zombie Demons, aka Zemons. The horror/comedy starring Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) and Devon Bostick (Diary of a Wimpy Kids series) has been gaining a lot of momentum and has a tone that some are describing as Shaun of the Dead meets The Goonies.

DEAD BEFORE DAWN 3D was shot from start to finish in Stereoscopic 3D, making it the first live-action, fully Canadian Stereoscopic 3D feature. Not only that, director April Mullen, from Niagara Falls, is now the youngest and only woman ever to direct a film of this kind.

The film is set to release in late fall. It was written by Tim Doiron, who also produces with Mullen.

Will Casper be able to reverse the curse and save the world, or will he and all his friends be “Dead Before Dawn?”

GORY PHOTOS AND TRAILER FOR INDY HORROR FILM ‘THE CEMETERY’ HIT THE WEB

Source: FANGORIA

Until recently, I hadn’t heard anything about THE CEMETERY, the forthcoming film from writer/director Adam Ahlbrandt. And then, by chance, I happened upon a Fangoria article online about the film and was blown away by the special makeup effects in the photos and a trailer (available only on Fangoria for now) that left me wanting more.

A co-production with Adversary Films and Backseat Conceptions and filmed in the Philadelphia area, THE CEMETERY stars J.D. Brown, Natalie Jean, Adam Huss, Tim Cronin, and Ruby Larocca amongst others, with special makeup effects by Doug Sakmann and Tom Kollmer. Check out THE CEMETERY’s official website and Facebook page for more info.

SYNOPSIS FROM THE OFFICIAL SITE:

A team of paranormal investigators must fight for their lives after accidentally releasing a demon from a forgotten cemetery.

Deep in the Pennsylvania hills, a cemetery for those who died during exorcism remains a dark secret for the church. In 1671, hundreds of men, women, and children suffered in bloody, torturous rituals at the hands of priests unable to contain the evil of the possessed. Were these possessions real, or is the story a hoax to cover up the sins of the deranged priests thirsty for human blood? Bill and his team of cynical paranormal investigators plan to find out the truth. As the producer and host of the reality TV show “Ghost Seekers,” Bill and his crew have seen it all: abandoned prisons, haunted houses, and decrepit mental hospitals. Night after night of boring trips to empty run down buildings has left them sure that the dead stay dead and that ghosts are the furthest thing from being real. Their lack of faith will soon be repaid in blood. Armed with the church’s historical record, they set out into the wilderness to uncover this series of forgotten atrocities. The demons of the past are invited to return and the gory details of old sins are revealed as the possessed begin hunting the living. Alternately gut-punching hilarious and brutally violent, The Cemetery takes the best elements of the old-school slasher film and pushes them to the edge.

*** WARNING *** THIS FILM CONTAINS VIOLENCE, GORE, EXPLICIT LANGUAGE, NUDITY, AND SHEER BRUTALITY! NOT RATED AND INTENDED FOR MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY.

Sounds like it’s right up my dark and dreary alley. Check out the rest of the photos and official poster below.

DEMONS ATTACK IN TRAILER FOR LIONSGATE’S ‘THE POSSESSION’

Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert’s Ghost House Pictures and Lionsgate have released a trailer for THE POSSESSION, directed by Ole Bornedal, and due for release on August 31st, 2012. Starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kyra Sedgwick, Madison Davenport, and Natasha Calis, the film (formerly THE DIBBUK BOX) is inspired by a 2004 Los Angeles Times story about a Jewish demon, or dibbuk, jinx box that went up for auction on eBay.

Synopsis from Dread Central:

One family must unite in order to survive the wrath of an unspeakable evil. Clyde (Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.
