CURSE OF CHUCKY arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/8/13.

Synopsis:

He’s back!  From the filmmakers that brought you Chucky comes the terrifying return of the pint-sized doll possessed by the spirit of a notorious serial killer. When a mysterious package arrives at the house of Nica (Fiona Dourif, “True Blood”), she doesn’t give it much thought. However, after her mother’s mysterious death, Nica begins to suspect that the talking, red-haired doll her visiting niece has been playing with may be the key to the ensuing bloodshed and chaos. The return of America’s favorite toy, voiced again by Brad Dourif, is unrated and full of more blood-splattered thrills and chills.

THE NEW CURSE OF CHUCKY TRAILER!

Just a quick update on the Curse Of Chucky front. A trailer for the film has finally hit, and while it seems fairly obvious that CG would be implemented in a new Chucky film, it’s good to see that the series creator, Don Mancini, is still using the doll to full effect overall. Check out the trailer below!

Synopsis:

Nica (Fiona Dourif) is grieving over the gruesome suicide of her mother when her domineering older sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti) arrives with her young family in tow to help settle their mother’s affairs. As the sisters butt heads over Nica’s plans for the future, Barb’s young daughter comforts herself with a grinning, red-haired talking doll named Chucky (voiced again by Brad Dourif) that recently arrived mysteriously in the mail. But as a string of brutal murders begins to terrorize the household, Nica suspects the doll may hold the key to the bloodshed. What she doesn’t know is that Chucky has a personal score to settle. He’s determined to finish a job he started more than 20 years earlier, and this time he’s going to see it through to the bloody and shocking end.

CHECK OUT THE FIRST 2 STILLS FROM CURSE OF CHUCKY!

Though a release date has yet to be revealed, I recently received the first two stills (if you don’t count the photo of the soundtrack cd roaming around the internet) for the upcoming film CURSE OF CHUCKY, written and directed by series creator Don Mancini! That’s right, intrepid readers, another Child’s Play film, but it would seem that the events of Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky are going to be completely thrown out in favor of a new tale altogether serving as, perhaps, a reboot to the franchise. The two new stills put the new Chucky doll, which is possessed by serial killer Charles Lee Ray (played and voiced by Brad Dourif), on full display (no scars or battle damage, which is what leads me to believe this film is serving as a beginning to a new franchise).

UNIVERSAL ANNOUNCES NEW CHILD’S PLAY FILM: CURSE OF CHUCKY

In addition to the forthcoming CHILD’S PLAY remake, Universal Home Entertainment has announced a straight to DVD sequel titled CURSE OF CHUCKY:

From Movie Hole:

Universal Home Entertainment have slapped the acidic size D’s back into the possessed doll Chucky, signing off on a plan to do a fifth sequel to 1988?s “Child’s Play”. CURSE OF CHUCKY, which will be written, directed and produced by Chucky conceiver and recurring franchise director Don Mancini, will begin shooting in Winnipeg, Canada in September.

In this new film, Chucky arrives to wreck havoc within a family that’s regrouped for a funeral. In the wake of her mother’s passing, a young woman – in a wheelchair since birth – is forced to put up with her sister, brother-in-law, niece and their nanny as they say their goodbyes to mother. When people start turning up dead, the fearless Nica discovers the culprit might be a “strange doll” she was sent a couple of days earlier.

Unlike the last couple of “Chucky” movies, while there will be humour, there’s a lot more emphasis here on making the series scary again – so this’ll be a throwback to the first two “Child’s Play” movies. Brad Dourif is back to voice the role of the killer doll.

Main characters in the film include heroine Nica; Barb, Nica’s older sister, a manipulative, controlling cow that nags her handsome husband Ian and 5-year-old daughter Alice; and Jill, the “smokin’ hot” nanny that’s sleeping with Ian. There’s also fun supporting characters like a meddling priest, who will come face-to-cross with Chucky, and of course, the deceased woman, mother Sarah.

We’ll see, I haven’t been much of a fan of the more recent CHILD’S PLAY movies. Some folk are into the whole campy, jokester, goofball Chucky, I’m not. I remember watching the first couple of CHILD’S PLAY movies as a kid and they scared the shit out of me. Around the same time, those “My Buddy” dolls came out and I  kept seeing them everywhere and I thought they were going to come to life and murder everyone. With a little luck, this sequel will return to being scary and some kid out there will see it and have nightmares like I did instead of looking at Chucky as a clown.

We’ll keep you updated with more information as it hits the web.
