BEHIND THE SCENES FX PHOTO FROM ZOMBIE’S THE LORDS OF SALEM

Over on Rob Zombie’s facebook page, he’s released yet another behind-the-scenes photo from his upcoming witchy horror film THE LORDS OF SALEM. “SFX supervisor Wayne Toth working on some nasty witch business for The Lords of Salem,” writes writer/director Zombie. Check out the new image below!

Sheri Moon Zombie, Meg Foster, Ernest Thomas, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Torsten Voges, Bruce Davison, Billy Drago, Richard Lynch, Lisa Marie, Maria Conchita Alonso, Ken Foree, Barbara Crampton, Michael Berryman, Sid Haig, Judy Geeson, and Patricia Quinn star in the film which has yet to secure a release date.

SYNOPSIS:

Sheri Moon plays Heidi, a DJ at a local radio station, who, together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster), forms part of the “Big H Radio Team.”

A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, a gift of the Lords. She assumes it’s a rock band on a mission to spread to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lord’s record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.

Later, White plays the Lord’s record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with his listeners.

The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon, Heidi and her cohorts are far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting. The original Lords or Salem are returning and they’re out for blood.

300 years earlier on the very streets of Salem that the townspeople walk on today, innocent folk were rounded up from their homes, convicted of being witches and sentenced to death. The Lords of Salem ran the town with an iron fist, but four witches who were tortured and killed in secrecy vowed that one day they would be back for revenge.

SUSPENSE THRILLER MUNGER ROAD TO HIT DVD/VOD IN SEPTEMBER

Freestyle Digital Media LLC (FDM) has acquired the rights to MUNGER ROAD, a tension filled suspense-thriller from Insomnia Productions that will debut on DVD, Digital Download and Video On-Demand September 11th, 2012.

From the Press Release:

Written and directed by Nicholas Smith, produced by Kyle Heller and starring Bruce Davison (“X-Men,” “Luck”), MUNGER ROAD takes place in a sleepy Midwestern town on a night when a group of teens explore the famed ‘Munger Road’ – a spot where a horrific tragedy occurred years earlier. Something terrible happens to the group, forcing the local police to acknowledge there is a returning killer lurking in the area as thousands of people converge on the town for the annual Scarecrow Festival.

Longer Synopsis:

On the evening of October 7th, four teenagers from the town of Saint Charles, Illinois venture out to a dark, mysterious road where local legend is that the train tracks have been haunted for years. Unbeknownst to them, while the small town prepares for their annual Scarecrow Festival the next day, a child murderer from the past has escaped imprisonment and his whereabouts are unknown. The Police Chief and his Deputy begin a search in fear that the murderer has returned home. At the same time; the teenagers become stuck on Munger Road… unable to call for help. As the police collect more suspicious evidence about the child murderer we slowly realize that the haunting of Munger Road is directly connected to his murderous past. The race is on as the Chief realizes the teenagers are missing and could be in grave danger. As the police search for both the killer and the kids…  they realize that the horror hasn’t even begun.

The film received a limited theatrical release in Chicago last year and received high praise, with Roger Ebert giving it three stars stating, “MUNGER ROAD does an efficient, skillful job of audience manipulation using the techniques of darkness and vulnerability, and the truth that a horror not seen is almost always scarier than the one you can see.”

A TRAILER HITS THE WEB FOR SYFY CREATURE FEATURE ‘BIGFOOT’ STARRING ALICE COOPER, BARRY WILLIAMS & DANNY BONADUCE

This Saturday, June 30th, SyFy will be premiering it’s latest creature feature (the last in a month of Saturday creature features) titled BIGFOOT. Obviously, it’s going to be another schlock fest with bad CGI, bad writing, and bad actors, so why are we here at Backwoods Horror so interested? Because we’re marks for squatchsploitation flicks…big marks. I, personally, am a huge fan of films like LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK, CREATURE FROM BLACK LAKE, LEGEND OF SASQUATCH and the countless other newer sasquatch/bigfoot movies that have come out straight to DVD over the past decade. I know they’re bad, but I can’t help myself. If it has anything to do with that big ‘ol hairy beast, I’m watching it, no matter how terrifyingly awful it is.

From Dread Central:

Danny Bonaduce (AKA “Danny Partridge” of “The Partridge Family”), Barry Williams (AKA “Greg Brady” of “The Brady Bunch”), Howard Hesseman (AKA “Dr. Johnny Fever” of “WKRP in Cincinnati”), Sherilyn Fenn (of “Twin Peaks”), Andre Royo (of “Fringe” and “The Wire”), 80’s rocker Billy Idol, and horror rocker Alice Cooper star in this newest slice of Sasquatchploitation produced by The Asylum for Syfy. Actor Bruce Davison of X-Men and a long list of movies steps behind the camera to direct.

Now behold, the trailer…

NEW BEHIND THE SCENES FOOTAGE FROM ROB ZOMBIE’S ‘LORDS OF SALEM’

While we wait fervently for more video, photos, and information to come along for Rob Zombie’s LORDS OF SALEM, someone has released some blurry behind the scenes footage (more than likely taken from a phone) of Maria Conchita Alonso’s character…um…painting. That’s about all you can make out, but for those of you, like me, who are heavily looking forward to the first original film Zombie has created in a while, it’s another little taste of what’s to come. Sheri Moon Zombie, Meg Foster, Ernest Thomas, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Torsten Voges, Bruce Davison, Billy Drago, Richard Lynch, Lisa Marie, Maria Conchita Alonso, Ken Foree, Barbara Crampton, Michael Berryman, Sid Haig, Judy Geeson, and Patricia Quinn star in the film which has yet to secure a release date.
