Taking place on LONG ISLAND, New York at the signature art house theatre THE CINEMA ARTS CENTER on Tuesday, July 3rd at 7:30pm in Huntington. Starting off with an exclusive video introduction by Jim Vanbebber himself, this event will feature the short film MY SWEET SATAN (about Long island serial Killer Ricky Kasso) making its long Island Premier, and a super rare, 35mm print screening of his cult film THE MANSON FAMILY. The film that Roger Ebert said “…has an undeniable power and effect, but be sure you understand what you are getting yourself into. This is not a “horror” film or an “underground” film, but an act of transgression so extreme and uncompromised…”- 3 stars.

This event is $14 with a portion of the proceeds going towards the production of GATOR GREEN.

GATOR GREEN is a horror/thriller about a Veteran who returns from the war to take over the operation of an alligator farm in Florida. Much madness, mayhem and murder ensues. This will be Jim Vanbber’s first film since THE MANSON FAMILY, which was completed almost 10 years ago. Its begins shooting this September in the swamps of Florida. Being made the Jim Vanbebber way, completely independent and being shot on 16mm film.

If you are in the area, please come out to one of these exclusive events, be a part of American cinema history and keep independent film alive!

  2. Yes VIC NOTO did write SCALES and create RAY SCALES and 98% of the names and Characters for SCALES I then changed to GATOR GREEN. We had a falling out and I’ve come to be sorry that I STOLE this material,he’s a Great Actor/Writer and I couldn’r have done GATOR GREEN without him,I know I’m LEGALLY indebted to him, live and learn.

  3. I haven’t heard anything about this, Jim. I’m going to go see The Manson Family tonight in NYC and I hear we’ll be seeing the Gator Green short. I think it says a lot that you’d openly give credit where credit’s due, but frankly it seems like YOU made the film. I’m sorry you had a falling out with Vic Noto and I hope there’s no ill will and it’s just one of those things that sometimes happens during collaborations.
Heidi, it seems as though Jim plans to do right by Vic and while I’m glad you brought this to my attention, I’d have to wonder if the film would’ve even been made had Jim not been attached. Sometimes collaborations fall through I suppose, and though I know absolutely nothing about what happened, once again, I applaud Jim for coming on here (in fact, I’m absolutely THRILLED he even reads my little site) and responding as he did and it truly seems like he’s doing the right thing about it.
I’m sure I’ll learn more when I see the film tonight and get the blu-ray in the mail sometime soon for review. Is Vic in the credits for Gator Green at all? I’m sure that’d be a start, but as I said, I don’t know much about any of this as this is the first I’m hearing about it. As it’s a personal issue, I’m not going to write up a story about it, but if you’d ever like to talk about what happened via email (, I’d be happy to learn more so as to be a bit more educated on the subject if it ever comes up in the future..
I hope things work out as far as everyone is concerned.
Additionally, Jim, I look forward to the new Blu-Ray release of The Manson Family and wrote up an article about it’s release back in early March:
I should be receiving a copy in the mail so you’ll see a review up for it soon. Thanks again to both of you for commenting on this.
