PORTIA DE ROSSI CAST AS LILY MUNSTER IN NBC’S MOCKINGBIRD LANE

In an abrupt casting change, Portia De Rossi has been brought in to replace Mariana Klaveno to play Lily Munster (originally played to vampish effect by Yvonne De Carlo) for NBC’s THE MUNSTERS reboot MOCKINGBIRD LANE. Apparently, Mariana Klaveno couldn’t get a release from her contract for the project DEVIOUS MAIDS. Being a fan of De Rossi’s work in her various roles, I think this can only work out for the best and can’t wait to see what she’ll look like decked out as Lily Munster. Better than Mariana Klaveno, I think Portia De Rossi even has a better look for the role and her work in Arrested Development leads me to believe she can pull off the humorous, yet mysterious character.

To This:

Wakefield joins Jerry O’Connell, as Herman Munster, Mason Cook as Eddie, and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa. Bryan Singer (producer of one of my favorite horror films TRICK ‘R TREAT) is slated to helm the pilot episode. The pilot is described as a “re-imagining” of the 1960s sitcom about The Munsters, a family of “monsters” — vampires, werewolves and a Frankenstein-esque monster, and their “plain” cousin (played in the reboot by Charity Wakefield) — that will feature interesting themes and visuals in the vein (pun intended) of Fuller’s PUSHING DAISIES. Mason Cook, playing Eddie Munster, is Lily (played by Portia De Rossi) and Herman’s (played by Jerry O’Connell) only child, an earnest boy scout and budding werewolf. Horrified to learn the truth about himself, he refuses to eat meat, arguing with Grandpa (Eddie Izzard) around the dinner table.
