See, here’s the thing, I’m torn on this one. On one side, I’m REALLY FUCKING STOKED ABOUT ZOMBIELAND, coming to us October 9th, 2009. I mean, it’s Zombies and Woody Harrelson (who I dig in just about everything he’s done). But then there’s that aspect of a rather high budget which always, for me anyway, seems to spell disaster for any zombie flick. LAND OF THE DEAD anyone? Ah, fuck it, you say ZOMBIES and I’m there with my Shotgun, Machete, and sixer of beer! Here’s some information about the flick from the good boils ‘n ghouls over at Shock Till You Drop:
Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin play band of survivors who team to fight the living dead in the post-apocalyptic Southwest after a zombie plague ravages America.
The official synopsis: Columbus (Eisenberg) has made a habit of running from what scares him. Tallahassee (Harrelson) doesn’t have fears. If he did, he’d kick their ever-living ass. In a world overrun by zombies, these two are perfectly evolved survivors. But now, they’re about to stare down the most terrifying prospect of all: each other.
Fuck Yes, I’m seein’ this one!
MORE BACKWOODS HORROR WEREWOLF WEDNESDAY SPOOKY GOODNESS!
The director of 1981?s An American Werewolf In London is getting back into the shape-shifting genre. John Landis has come on board SpectreVision’s [formerly the production company WoodShed ] Bad Vibes pic as an executive producer. “Based on the impressive slate of genre films that Elijah Wood and SpectreVision are producing, I am very excited that Dave Gebroe’s clever and scary Bad Vibes has found the perfect home,” Landis said in a statement [earlier this month]. Produced by Wood, Daniel Noah, and Josh C. Waller’s newly renamed company, the 1960s psychedelic rock music scene-based werewolf film is being directed by Gebroe. The Zombie Honeymoon helmer also wrote Bad Vibes’ original screenplay. Indie musician Ariel Pink has also joined the film as composer. Landis served as EP on the 2011 comedy horror pic Some Guy Who Kills People. Known for directing Animal House, The Blues Brothers and Eddie Murphy’s Coming To America as well as Michael Jackson’s Thriller video, the last feature Landis directed was 2010’s UK comedy Burke And Hare. He also directed an episode of the Brit show Psychoville in 2011. Along with Bad Vibes, SpectreVision’s has the horror-comedy Cooties starring Wood, Alison Pill and Rainn Wilson; Toad Road; and the Iran-set vampire love story A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, which is in postproduction. Landis is repped by Resolution.
In some news that, hopefully, lightens the crippling burden of the post before this one, George A. Romero (director of genre classics such as Night Of The Living Dead, Dawn Of The Dead, Day Of The Dead, Martin – really, if you don’t know who I’m talking about, quit reading this and go watch some – all – of the films I mentioned above) has completed the script for a new zombie film. That’s right, the master of zombie disaster is back (we can all forget about Diary Of The Dead and Survival Of The Dead, right? Right!). Unlike his former work within (and creating) the zombie sub-genre, however, this new screenplay is an adaptation of Steven C. Schlozman’s zombie novel, The Zombie Autopsies.
Sadly many zombie films in this day and age rely on computer generated images and in turn the film suffers, or at least in my opinion it does. What ever happened to good old fashioned latex?
Well my friends, Kevin King’s latest flick, ZOMBIE HUNTER, has answered our calls as this one is full on practical effects and I am loving every single piece of this, and oh, it also stars Danny Trejo! Pretty awesome.

Sony Screen Gems’ forthcoming RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION, directed once again by Paul W.S. Anderson, is less than two months away and we’re starting to see an “ultimate saturation” point with the marketing materials. A few weeks back we showed you a one-sheet featuring Alice (Milla Jovovich) going global (at least that was the tagline). But now a new international poster has decided that the look from two weeks ago would go over better gussied up with some zombies. I’ve included both below the jump for comparison.
The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice, awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.
Written and directed by Paul Anderson, RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION stars Milla Jovovich, Boris Kodjoe, Li Bingbing, Kevin Durand, Shawn Roberts, Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Johann Urb, and Colin Salmon. Look for RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION in theaters on September 14, 2012, from Sony Screen Gems.
Seriously folks, a company by the name of OpticsPlanet has created a $24,000 zombie survival kit titled Z.E.R.O. Zombie Extermination, Research & Operations kit which has just about everything you’d need to survive the coming Zombie Apocalypse…except…you know…guns, or weapons. It is, however, the ultimate zombie killing accessory kit for the truly prepared.
From the OpticsPlanet site:
Imagine: You half-hear a low, guttural sound from outside as you lay sleeping. You figure it’s just your stomach after too much delicious Mexican food… but a sudden thud on the outside wall of the house shakes you from a peaceful slumber. Deep within the primal centers of your brain, you realize the dead have risen to claim our once-peaceful realm. What do you do? What do you need? The dead have risen, and they’ve returned as something different. Those you were once closest to now hunger for your flesh, and possibly the Mexican food you had for dinner.
There is no room for error when dealing with the undead. Our Z.E.R.O. (Zombie Extermination, Research and Operations) Kit takes into account all the different aspects of surviving the looming zombie apocalypse. When the undead hordes rise from their shallow graves to wreak havoc on all decent civilization, you’ll need to both fight back (Extermination), and find a cure (Research).
Always be prepared. In the new zombie world you can be king of the hill, or the tastiest treat in town.

Hive Films has announced that MVD has picked up North American DVD rights for British independent horror ZOMBIE UNDEAD. Produced and Directed by Rhys Davies, from a script by Kris Tearse, ZOMBIE UNDEAD is a tense and claustrophobic horror. Following a terrorist’s biological attack, a plague of the living dead is unleashed and a small band of survivors battle against the toughest odds.
Rhys Davies says: “All we had at the start was a vision. A vision to produce, as first time film makers with no budget, a great looking cinematic zombie film. Securing this distribution deal vindicates the dream. Hive Films and everyone involved with Zombie Undead is delighted to be working with MVD and to see our film released in such a key territory as North America.”
Zombie Undead was selected for screening on the opening night of FANTASPORTO 2011, which described the film as “The purest British gore you can find.”
ZOMBIE UNDEAD is slated for released on DVD and VOD this month.

In what might be the most horror-influenced tour of the year, shock-rockers Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie are teaming up for a US and European tour. Korn singer Jonathan Davis will be providing opening support as his DJ alter ego J-Devil.
Rob Zombie says, “Finally! Why did the most obvious tour take so long to happen? Who knows? Who cares? It’s happening now. If good taste is the chief enemy of great art, then we should be able to fill the Louvre with this fucking tour. Be prepared for something wicked this way a-coming.”
Marilyn Manson states, “I have sympathy for the Whore of Babylon that gave birth to these twins of evil, and this abomination of a tour. There is no babysitter, and there is no repairing her womb. If Rob Zombie doesn’t fuck you up, than I surely will. Hide all drugs and firearms…I’m coming to town.”
