TRICK ‘R TREAT 2 IS FINALLY HAPPENING!

That’s right boils ‘n ghouls. Perhaps one of the greatest Halloween Horror films to come our way in decades, TRICK ‘r TREAT  is finally getting a sequel. While I think the film is one of those masterpieces that doesn’t necessarily need a sequel, with the right people involved, I think we, the fans, may very well have another masterpiece on our hands!

From HorrorMovies.ca:

[Recently, at the] Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles, there was a special screening of Trick ‘r Treat for Beyond Fest.  This screening was also live streamed and featured a Q&A with Bryan Singer and stars of the film.  It was during the Q&A that the subject of “Trick ‘r Treat 2? was brought up.  Michael Dougherty, the film’s director, said it was out of his hands.  That’s when a representative from Legendary Pictures stood up and shouted “Let’s make a sequel!” and then the screen behind the Q&A participants lit up with the Trick ‘r Treat 2 logo.  It was also revealed that Dougherty would be directing the new film.

HAWT DAYUM!

The TRICK ‘R TREAT Saga Continues

Posted on 24th August 2008 by aaron in Uncategorized - Tags: , ,

Well now, according to they boys over at Shock Till You Drop, TRICK ‘R TREAT IS still with Warner Brothers, though now it’d seem that they’re going to release it directly to DVD.  FUCK A DUCK, MAN, DVD?  If any flick the dumbass mofos over at WB had their grubby little mitts on DESERVED theatrical release it’d be Trick ‘R Treat.  Jeez.  Click a link or two above for more info. on the movie.  I’m just tired of this back and forth bullshit.  Anyway, I suppose I’d should be happy that I’d be getting anything at all.  No realease date on the dvd yet, but stay tuned: same bat time, same bat channel, and I’m sure I’ll be passing along that information.

More to come including a retrospective on Joe Bob Briggs, one of the most awesome southern horror personalities around and always a friend to The Backwoods Horror crew.

Trick ‘r Treat: Still With WB, New Poster

Posted on 11th August 2008 by aaron in News - Tags: , ,

UPDATE: So it would seem that Shock Till You Drop’s Rep at WB has told them that there was some sort of internal mistake and that Trick ‘r Treat shouldn’t have been on the publicity list sent out to everyone (except Backwoods Horror, we’re not cool enough I guess, fuckers).  So…FUCK-A-DUCK.  Depressing.

The cool ghouls over at Shock Till You Drop keep giving me good news in regard to Trick ‘r Treat.  Last Friday it was reported that the film was still with Warner Brothers, and as of today, the flick has a web domain (even if it does lead to Warner Brothers’ main page and you have to do some searching, still better than nothing), and a brand, spankin’ new poster.  Feast your eyes and clicky on the poster to head on over to the WB site.

Trick ‘r Treat Back On The Distribution Wagon?

Posted on 30th June 2008 by aaron in News - Tags: , , , ,

Ever since I first saw the trailer for Michael Dougherty’s Trick ‘r Treat (see it in all its horror anthology glory below), I’ve been waiting and waiting for it to come out in theaters. Unfortunately, earlier this year, Warner Brothers dropped the film from its 2008 release schedule (after it had already been dropped from its October 2007 release date).  Well, our friends down in Aussie town at Moviehole.net had a little chat with Mr. Dougherty and came back with the following quote: “The struggle continues. There’s interest from another distributor so negotiations have begun. Keep your severed fingers crossed!”  Hot Damn! Here’s hoping we’ll finally get to see something.  I mean, I’d prefer seeing it in a theater, but even if I have to watch it on dvd only, that’s still better than nothing.

For those of you not in the know, Trick ‘r Treat, according to Wikipedia, follows the following plotline:

“It is said that Halloween is the night when the dead rise to walk among us, and other unspeakable things roam free. The rituals of All Hallows Eve were devised to protect us from their evil mischief, and one small town is about to be taught a terrifying lesson that some traditions are best not forgotten.

Nothing is what it seems when a suburban couple learns the dangers of blowing out a Jack-o-Lantern before midnight, a terrifying principal with a serial killer attitude teaches one neighbor the true meaning of Halloween, Laurie (played by the always luscious Anna Paquin), a young woman dressed as little red riding hood, is stalked by a mysterious hooded figure at a local Halloween Festival; a group of pranksters goes too far and discovers the horrifying truth buried in a local urban legend of a school bus massacre; and a cantankerous old hermit is visited by a strange trick-or-treater with a few bones to pick.

Costumes and candy, ghouls and goblins, monsters and mayhem…the tricks and treats of Halloween turn deadly as strange creatures of every variety—human and otherwise—try to survive the scariest night of the year.”
