OFFICIAL POSTER AND GORE SOAKED STILLS FROM KEVIN KING’S ZOMBIE HUNTER

Source: Horror-Movies.ca

Sadly many zombie films in this day and age rely on computer generated images and in turn the film suffers, or at least in my opinion it does. What ever happened to good old fashioned latex?

Well my friends, Kevin King’s latest flick, ZOMBIE HUNTER, has answered our calls as this one is full on practical effects and I am loving every single piece of this, and oh, it also stars Danny Trejo! Pretty awesome.

Below we have the first official poster and some awesome zombie photos from the film courtesy of their official Facebook page.

Synopsis: “Zombie Hunter follows the vengeful HUNTER in his journey through the post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested wasteland. Killing in the name of the family he lost, he teams up with a group of survivors and face the deadly mutations that challenge their survival.”

ZOMBIE HUNTER is written and directed by Kevin King, and stars Martin Copping, Danny Trejo, Clare Niederpruem, Jade Gordon, and Jason Wixom. The film is being produced by Kevin King, Chris Le, Rocky Mudaliar, Jason Faller, Kynan Griffin, Brian King, Spencer Bowen

HALLOWEEN STORE DISPLAYS FROM 1969

Maybe it’s just me, but Halloween of yesteryear just seemed like more fun. There was less emphasis on über-mom safety, special gluten free soy candy, etc. Kids would trick or treat AT NIGHT as they should, running around in monster masks instead of safe little princess and movie memorabilia costumes. We all heard about razorblades and needles in our candy (some of it unwrapped, some of it cookies), and we didn’t care. It’s part of what made Halloween scary. Part of what makes Halloween special to me these days is more nostalgia then anything else. Remembrance of days long past when friends and I were allowed to run freely through the streets at night, trick or treating, telling ghost stories in the local cemetery. Good luck finding that now.

The blog Collecting Candy has acquired a massive amount of Halloween store displays from 1969 that bring back those wonderful memories. Here’s an example of what I mean:

REI’S ESSENTIAL TOOLS & SKILLS FOR SURVIVING A ZOMBIE OUTBREAK

Outdoor clothing and essentials gear store REI has gotten into the Halloween spirit by offering pamphlets and classes on what to do in case of a potential zombie outbreak. While most of the information in the pamphlets seems rather useless and more like a sales pitch, and the seminars probably more of the same, it is comforting to see big companies getting into the Halloween spirit. Other companies should take note.

13 Essential Tools for Surviving a Zombie Outbreak

NEW INTERNATIONAL POSTER AND 3 NEW IMAGES FROM SILENT HILL REVELATION 3D

Set for a wide theatrical release October 26th, just in time for Halloween, the folk behind SILENT HILL REVELATION 3D have released a new international poster even creepier than the first. Additionally, we’ve gotten our claws on 3 new stills from the film as well. Check ‘em all out after the break! I am a huge, HUGE fan of the original film. I’m not exactly sure it’s the story that took me in, but the visuals in that film were straight out of hell and I have yet to see anything like them since. So to have a second SILENT HILL with those amazingly nightmarish visuals, and to have it in 3D is amazing. Be sure to check it out this Friday boils ‘n ghouls for a roller coaster ride into hell.

JUST IN TIME FOR HALLOWEEN: THE HOUSE THAT CRIED BLOOD

We here at Backwoods Horror just received news from star Damian Maffei that New York City-based genre production company, Sideshow Pictures, has announced their second annual Halloween short film, THE HOUSE THAT CRIED BLOOD.

The film was written and directed by Frank Sabatella (BLOOD NIGHT: THE LEGEND OF MARY HATCHET & the tongue in cheek HALLOWEEN short NIGHT OF THE PUMPKIN) and produced by Frank Mosca of Harrington Talents.

This is the awesome email we received from Damian. Check it out and look for a formal press release soon!

I just finished a movie called THE HOUSE THAT CRIED BLOOD.  Now, this is about a short film, BUT HOLD UP.  This is no regular short.  I don’t push regular shorts (or do them). It is a Halloween short of badass proportions.  I guarantee it.

Due to premiere this month online (a press release will be sent out by them when all that’s solid)

Here are the essentials:

The newest Halloween short from Sideshow Pictures and director Frank Sabatella The House that Cried Blood follows four young adults, who, through a dare by their leader Lynch (Damian Maffei), venture into “Old Lady Death’s” house in search of her rotting corpse. What begins as regular Halloween tomfoolery turns into a night of terror as what awaits them within the walls of The House that Cried Blood… Is an evil none of them could ever fathom in their wildest dreams.

The approach taken in The House that Cried Blood is almost the exact opposite of that in Night of the Pumpkin. Whereas NotP delivers the goods through a tongue-in-cheek, wild retro-splatter ride, THTCB builds the tension and mounting fear through atmosphere, performances, and gen-yoo-ine thrills.  And blood and some guts, sure.

Currently finishing post, there is a kickstarter campaign going on, an attempt to raise 3,000 before Halloween. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/notp/help-us-build-the-house-that-cried-blood (Backwoods Horror Note: BE SURE TO CHECK THE KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN OUT! KEEP AMERICA STRONG, SUPPORT INDEPENDENT HORROR!)

THE HOUSE THAT CRIED BLOOD -Directed by Frank Sabatella (Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet, Night of the Pumpkin) starring Damian Maffei (Christmas with the Dead, Closed for the Season) Andrea Boehlke (Survivor: Redemption Island) Ray Zupp, Ashlee Mundy. F/X handled by Emmy Nominated Jeremy Selenfriend (Boardwalk Empire, Blood Night, Men in Black 3) and Monster in my Closet FX. From Sideshow Pictures.

PREVIEW: THE WALKING DEAD SEASON 3, EPISODE 3 “WALK WITH ME”

The second episode of the third season of THE WALKING DEAD had to be one of the best of any season yet; chock full of walker mayhem, violence, and tension, I’d call it a perfect episode. In a world overrun by zombies, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his band of survivors must not only fight the dead, but also face a whole new fear: the living. While Rick and the gang are busy clearing out a prison in the hopes of transforming it into a protective fortress, not so far away is the town of Woodbury, Georgia, and its self-appointed leader/dictator, the Governor (David Morrissey). THE WALKING DEAD stars Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Chandler Riggs, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Iron E Singleton, Melissa McBride, David Morrissey and Danai Gurira. The series is executive produced by Glen Mazzara, Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert with Greg Nicotero as co-executive producer.

THE MUCH BETTER OFFICIAL ITALIAN TRAILER FOR DARIO ARGENTO’S DRACULA 3D

So far, we here at Backwoods Horror haven’t really said much…well, anything on Dario Argento’s DRACULA 3D. Why? Who knows. It probably has a lot to do with us, for some reason, not hearing about it until now. In all the horror news out there, we’ve overlooked the next DARIO ARGENTO film. Well, all that’s about to be corrected.

Here’s what we do know thanks to Daily Dead:

Dario Argento’s DRACULA 3D screened earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival and we’ve been waiting to hear about the movie’s US release plans. It is now being reported that the film has been acquired for US distribution. IFC Films has picked up the movie for its IFC Midnight label, according to Fangoria. While a specific release date has not been set, expect it some time in 2013 and we’ll have more release details in the very near future.

DRACULA 3D was directed by Dario Argento and stars Thomas Kretschmann (Dracula), Marta Gastini (Mina), Asia Argento (Lucy), Unax Ugalde (Harker), and Rutger Hauer (Van Helsing).

SYNOPSIS:

The tale begins with Jonathan Harker, journeying by train and carriage from England to Count Dracula’s crumbling, remote castle situated in the Carpathian Mountains on the border of Transylvania. The purpose of his mission is to catalogue the big library of Dracula. At first enticed by Dracula’s gracious manner, Harker soon discovers that he has become a prisoner in the castle. He also begins to see disquieting facets of Dracula’s nocturnal life. One night while searching for a way out of the castle, and against Dracula’s strict admonition not to venture outside his room at night, Harker falls under the spell of three wanton female vampires, the Brides of Dracula.
