6 NEW STILLS FROM THE WALKING DEAD: SEASON 3

6 new stills have popped up on the web for the upcoming THE WALKING DEAD: SEASON 3 premiering Sunday, October 14 at 9pm ET/PT. It shows a bit more of the prison and brand new characters we’ll be running into, including The Governor.

In a world overrun by zombies, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his band of survivors must not only fight the dead, but also face a whole new fear: the living. While Rick and the gang are busy clearing out a prison in the hopes of transforming it into a protective fortress, not so far away is the town of Woodbury, Georgia, and its self-appointed leader/dictator, the Governor (David Morrissey). THE WALKING DEAD stars Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Chandler Riggs, Lauren Cohan, Scott Wilson, Iron E Singleton, Melissa McBride, David Morrissey and Danai Gurira. The series is executive produced by Glen Mazzara, Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert with Greg Nicotero as co-executive producer.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM TEASER #21

FX has released the 21st teaser for the upcoming AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM, the second season of the incredibly popular AMERICAN HORROR STORY. Each teaser seems weirder than the last (a good thing), and I’m beginning to wonder if  FX plans to keep running them until October.

Coming October 17th, only on FX, the new season is set at an East Coast asylum for the criminally insane in 1964, and revolves around Jessica Lange’s new character — a nun — and her boss at the institution, played by James Cromwell. Clea Duvall, Chris Zylka, Joseph Fiennes, Chloe Sevigny, The Voice’s Adam Levine, Mark Consuelos and newcomer Lizzie Brochere round out the cast. Other returning cast members set to play new roles include Sarah Paulson, Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe.

TOM SAVINI’S 1990 NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD COMING TO BLU-RAY

I don’t think Tom Savini’s remake of George Romero’s classic NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD gets the love it deserves. It was, after all, written and produced by Romero himself in an attempt to correct how he felt about the Barbara character and to perhaps finally make some money back on the movie he may be perhaps most famous for, as we all know there were copyright issues involved with the original. While not nearly as great as the original, it is still a damn fine film with incredible acting and makeup effects (much of which was cut by the MPAA).

Now it’s finally coming to Blu-Ray via Twilight Time (a company I haven’t heard of until now), though I have my doubts about it. I think a Blu-ray for NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 1990 is necessary, and I believe the transfer will probably be adequate, the disc doesn’t even have all of the special features the DVD had. Commentary and Trailer, rather barebones for a film I believe deserves more. Additionally, I haven’t heard anything about it being an uncut version as well, something that is sorely needed given the MPAA cut the HELL out of this film.

FIRST OFFICIAL FRANKENWEENIE CLIP

While perhaps not precisely horror, per se, FRANKENWEENIE is most assuredly genre friendly and perfect for getting the little boils ‘n ghouls into horror. And you can bet your rotting arse I’ll be there to see it as well. It looks like another amazing animated film from Tim Burton that walks that slight line of darkness. FRANKENWEENIE hits theaters October 5th, 2012 and features a voice cast that includes four actors who worked with Burton on previous films: Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands), Catherine O’Hara (Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas), Martin Short (Mars Attacks!), and Martin Landau (Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow), along with Charlie Tahan and Atticus Shaffer.

SYNOPSIS:

A heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

A stop-motion animated film, ‘Frankenweenie’ will be filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, which will elevate the classic style to a whole new experience.
